Index Fungorum, Faceoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank.
Classification: Tubeufiaceae, Tubeufiales, Incertae sedis, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.
Notes: Helicangiospora was introduced by Boonmee et al. (2014) based on morphology and phylogenetic analyses of the combined ITS, LSU, and tef1-α sequence data. Currently, Helicangiospora comprises only the type species, H. lignicola, which was isolated as a saprobic fungus on decaying wood in a terrestrial habitat in Thailand (Boonmee et al. 2014). Helicangiospora resembles Helicoma by having helicoid, multi-septate, and hyaline to pale brown conidia that taper towards rounded ends (Boonmee et al. 2014; Lu et al. 2023b). However, Helicangiospora is phylogenetically distinct within Tubeufiaceae, and is distant from the Helicoma group (Boonmee et al. 2014; Lu et al. 2018b; Ma et al. 2023b).
Type species: Helicangiospora lignicola Boonmee, Bhat & K.D. Hyde, Fungal Diversity 68 (1): 262 (2014).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Helicangiospora.
