Notes: Hamatispora was established by Le et al. (2018), with H. phuquocensis as the type species based on its unique conidial features and phylogenetic analyses of the combined ITS and LSU sequence data. Currently, Hamatispora comprises a single species, H. phuquocensis, which was found in a freshwater habitat in Vietnam (Le et al. 2018). Hamatispora is characterized by holoblastic conidiogenous cells, and solitary, acrogenous, multi-septate, hook-like helicoid conidia with a main axis and 3–5 arms (Le et al. 2018). Hamatispora can be easily distinguished from other helicosporous genera by its distinctive conidia (Linder 1929; Zhao et al. 2007; Boonmee et al. 2014; Lu et al. 2018b).
Type species: Hamatispora phuquocensis L.T.H. Yen, K. Yamag. & K. Ando, Mycoscience 59 (6): 468 (2018).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Hamatispora.
