Notes: Goosiella was established and introduced by Morgan-Jones et al. (1986), with G. helicospora as the type species. Currently, Goosiella comprises a single species, G. helicospora, which was found on ferns in India (Morgan-Jones et al. 1986). Goosiella is characterized by having dark brown, superficial, pseudoparenchymatous stromata, macronematous, mononematous, straight, erect, branched, pale brown to brown, septate conidiophores arranges singly or in small caespitose groups, monoblastic or polyblastic, terminal, cylindrical or clavate conidiogenous cells, and holoblastic, acrogenous, solitary, septate, curved or helicoid, hyaline conidia, with an obtuse apex and bearing a basal scar (Morgan-Jones et al. 1986). Goosiella differs from other helicosporous genera by having different conidiophores and conidia (Linder 1929; Zhao et al. 2007). Goosiella are morphologically similar to two species, Helicomina caperoniae and Hyalohelicomina deutziae, in having hyaline, helicoid conidia, but H. caperoniae and H. deutziae differ from Goosiella in producing curved, hyaline to pale brown, tooth-like protrusions conidiophores (Olive 1948; Yokoyama 1974).
Type species: Goosiella helicospora Morgan-Jones, Kamal & R.K. Verma, Mycologia 78 (3): 499 (1986).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Goosiella.
