Réblová et al. (2022) introduced the genus Gongromerizella to accommodate three species with chloridium-like asexual morphs: G. lignicola (Basionym: Bisporomyces lignicola), G. pachytrachela (Basionym: Chl. pachytrachelum), and G. pini (Basionym: Chl. pini). Gongromerizella silvana was subsequently introduced as the fourth species by Réblová et al. (2023).
