Glyphopeltis is a saxicolous lichen genus intrudoced by Brusse (1985) from southern Africa. It resembles Glypholecia in thallus form, texture, and surface fissuring, but differs in the presence of numerous black lecideine apothecia along the margins and fissures. Timdal (1988) combined the second species, G. ligustica, from Psora ligustica B. de Lesd., which is a lichen but a juvenile parasite on Peltula. Kistenich et al. (2018) conducted a phylogenetic analysis using multilocus sequence data (mtSSU, nrITS, nrLSU, RPB1, RPB2) and revealed that this genus forms a single clade in Lecanorales.

Type species: Glyphopeltis eburina Brusse.

Accepted species (lichenicolous).

Glyphopeltis ligustica (B. de Lesd.) Timdal, on lichen, juvenile parasite on Peltula (Timdal 1988).

= Psora ligustica B. de Lesd.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Glyphopeltis.
