The genus Glyphis was introduced by Acharius (1814) and currently includes seven species (Jaklitsch et al. 2016, Wijayawardene et al. 2017). Taxa are characterised by crustose thallus, lirelline apothecia and narrow ellipsoid, multi-septate ascospores (Staiger et al. 2006, Archer 2004).
