Superficial hyphae epiphyllous, mucilaginous, spreading, with light–dark brown, septate, constricted at septum, moniliform, smooth-walled hyphae, Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Pycnothyria globose to subglobose or pyriform, dark brown, glabrous, ostiolate, multi-seriate stalk. Conidia hyaline, ellipsoidal to cylindrical or oval, continuous or arranged as a chain, guttulate or not (Reynolds and Gilbert 2006; Bose et al. 2014).
Notes: Fumiglobus was established by Reynolds and Gilbert (2006) designating type species as Fumiglobus ficinus. Fumiglobus is morphologically similar to Neoasbolisia by dark brown, globose to subglobose or pyriform, glabrous, with hyaline, guttulate conidia. However, Fumiglobus has ostiolate pycnidia with multi-seriate stalk, moniliform hyphae while Neoasbolisia has superficial or immersed pycnidia lacking ostiole, multi-seriate stalk, moniliform hyphae. Bose et al. (2014) introduced Fumiglobus pieridicola collected from living leaves Pieris japonica in Canada (Fig. 1). Fumiglobus pieridicola has stalked pyriform apical and intercalary pycnidia, moniliform hyphae and relatively small conidia arranged as a chain. (Bose et al. 2014).
