Fenestroconidia Calat. & Etayo.

Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.

Fenestroconidia was introduced by Calatayud et al. (1999a) to describe the lichenicolous species F. caloplacae, which occurs on the apothecial discs of Caloplaca saxicola. This genus is characterized by black, sporodochial conidiomata, hyaline, multi-septate, flexuous, irregularly branched conidiophores, and hyaline, enteroblastic conidiogenous cells arranged in irregularly branched chains. The conidia are pale brown, simple, and feature an oblong, subhyaline, guttule-like zone (Calatayud et al. 1999a). With only one known species and no molecular data available, the phylogenetic position of Fenestroconidia remains uncertain, and it is tentatively placed within Ascomycota genera incertae sedis (Hyde et al. 2024).

Type species: Fenestroconidia caloplacae Calat. & Etayo, on Caloplaca Saxicola (Calatayud et al. 1999a).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Fenestroconidia.
