Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.
Feltgeniomyces was introduced by Diederich (1990) to accommodate the type species F. luxemburgensis, which occurs on the thalli of Lecidella conspurcatosorediosae. This monotypic genus is characterized by semi-macronematous, rarely branched, pale brown, smooth-walled conidiophores that form sporodochia. The conidiogenous cells are enteroblastic, terminal, subcylindrical to narrowly ampulliform, with a short, wide collarette, and pale brown in color. The conidia are solitary, semi-endogenous or acrogenous, subspherical to ellipsoid, simple, smooth or finely verrucose, and brown (Diederich 1990). Despite the recognition of six species, no molecular data are available, leaving the phylogenetic status unresolved. Hence, further studies are necessary.
Type species: Feltgeniomyces luxemburgensis Diederich, on Lecidella conspurcatosorediosa.
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Feltgeniomyces.
