Eriomycetaceae was established to accommodate five non-lichenized genera Eriomyces (type genus), Funbolia, Heleiosa, Phellinocrescentia and Pseudopassalora which have been placed in Dothideomycetes genera incertae sedis (Crous et al. 2011a, b, 2014; Hyde et al. 2020b). However, Hongsanan et al. (2020b) provided a refined updated document on orders and families incertae sedis of Dothideomycetes, and synonymized Eriomycetaceae under Monoblastiaceae. In the present phylogenetic analysis (Zhang JF et al. 2023), all of the genera (with available sequence data) that were included within Monoblastiaceae in previous studies (Crous et al. 2020b, 2021b; Hongsanan et al. 2020b; Hyde et al. 2020b; Mortimer et al. 2021) are separated into two clades. One of these is comprised of eight known non-lichenzied genera (Eriomyces, Funbolia, Haudseptoria, Heleiosa, Italiofungus, Neoheleiosa, Phellinocrescentia and Pseudopassalora) and the new genus Karstiomyces established in this study, while other lichenzied genera are located in a seprate clade. This topology is somewhat similar to Hongsanan et al. (2020b), and therefore, we resurrect the family Eriomycetaceae to accommodate the above nine non-lichenzied genera and assign it within Monoblastiales. We reduce Monoblastiaceae to six lichenzied genera (Acrocordia, Anisomeridium, Caprettia, Megalotremis, Monoblastia and Trypetheliopsis).
Type genus: Karstiomyces J.F. Zhang & K.D. Hyde.
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Eriomycetaceae.
