Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.

Epaphroconidia was introduced by Calatayud et al. (1995a) to describe E. hawksworthii, a conidial fungus found on the thallus of Pertusaria pertusa in Spain. The genus is characterized by black conidiomata, which are initially subglobose but become cupulate with age. Conidiogenous cells emerge from the pycnidial wall and produce conidia enteroblastically through a minute pore. The conidia are holoblastic, large, globose, hyaline, and aseptate (Calatayud et al. 1995a). With only one known species and no molecular data available, its phylogenetic placement remains uncertain.

Type species: Epaphroconidia hawksworthii Calat. & V. Atienza, on Pertusaria pertusa (Calatayud et al. 1995a).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Epaphroconidia.
