Notes: Dematiohelicosporum was established by Lu et al. (2018b), with D. guttulatum as the type species. Currently, Dematiohelicosporum consists of a single species, D. guttulatum, discovered on dead wood in Thailand (Lu et al. 2018b; Wijayawardene et al. 2022; Index Fungorum 2024). Dematiohelicosporum is characterized by macronematous, mononematous, erect, cylindrical, primarily unbranched, 0–3-septate, pale brown, conidiophores, holoblastic, monoblastic, integrated, terminal, cylindrical conidiogenous cells, and solitary, acrogenous, helicoid, indistinctly multi-septate, olivaceous to brown, smooth-walled conidia that are coiled by 4–5 times, and slightly circinate in three dimensions, sometimes rounded at the apex, and truncate at basal cell. The basal cell are elongated, tapering towards the ends (Lu et al. 2018b). Dematiohelicosporum shares similarities with Hyalohelicoon species by having acrogenous, helicoid, and multi-septate conidia that are slightly circinate in three dimensions. However, Hyalohelicoon can be easily distinguished from Dematiohelicosporum by its unique conidial morphology. For instance, the conidia of Hyalohelicoon are hyaline, large, helicoon-like shaped on the superficial substrate (Lu et al. 2018b).

Type species: Dematiohelicosporum guttulatum Y.Z. Lu, J.K. Liu & K.D. Hyde, Fungal Diversity 92: 160 (2018).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Dematiohelicosporum.
