Fungalpedia – Note 3112, Dematiohelicoma

Dematiohelicoma Y.Z. Lu, J.C. Kang & K.D. Hyde, Fungal Diversity 92: 157 (2018).

Citation when using this data: Jian Ma et al. 2024 – Fungalpedia.

Index Fungorum, Faceoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank.

Classification: Tubeufiaceae, Tubeufiales, Incertae sedis, Dothideomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Notes: Dematiohelicoma was established by Lu et al. (2018b), with D. pulchrum as the type species based on molecular and morphological data. Currently, Dematiohelicoma comprises two species: D. perelegans and D. pulchrum (Lu et al. 2018b; Index Fungorum 2024). These two asexual species were found in unidentified decaying bark or wood in terrestrial habitats (Linder 1929; Hughes 1978; Ruíz CR et al. 1998; Tsui and Berbee 2006; Zhao et al. 2007). Dematiohelicoma resembles Helicoma in its conidial morphology but can be easily distinguished by its reddish-brown conidia with dark brown conidial septa (Lu et al. 2018b). Phylogenetically, Dematiohelicoma is a distinct genus within Tubeufiaceae, and is distant from Helicoma (Lu et al. 2018b; Ma et al. 2023b).

Type species: Dematiohelicoma pulchrum (R.F. Castañeda & Guarro) Y.Z. Lu & K.D. Hyde, Fungal Diversity 92: 158 (2018).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Dematiohelicoma.
