Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.

Deichmannia was introduced by Alstrup et al. (1990) to describe the lichenicolous hyphomycete D. verrucispora, found on Diploschistes muscorum. This monotypic genus is characterized by black, sporodochial colonies and brown, macronematous, aggregated, sparsely branched, subcylindrical conidiophores. The genus also features monoblastic, integrated, terminal conidiogenous cells that are subcylindrical and brown. The conidia are brown, solitary, broadly ellipsoid, dry, 1–2-septate, and coarsely verrucose (Alstrup et al. 1990). Due to the lack of sequence data, the phylogenetic position of this genus remains uncertain and requires further investigation for clarification.

Type species: Deichmannia verrucispora Alstrup & D. Hawksw., on Diploschistes muscorum. (Alstrup et al. 1990).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Deichmannia.
