Cytosporaceae was introduced by Fries (1825). Maharachchikumbura et al. (2015) accepted 13 genera in Cytosporaceae. Senanayake et al. (2017) accepted five genera Cytospora, Pachytrype, Paravalsa, Xenotypa and Waydora in Cytosporaceae. We follow the treatments of Wijayawardene et al. (2020) and Hyde et al. (2020a).

Type genus: Cytospora Ehrenb., Sylv. mycol. berol. (Berlin): 28 (1818).
