Classification: Hypocreales genera incertae sedis, Hypocreomycetidae, Sordariomycetes,  Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.

Cylindronectria was introduced by Etayo (2017) based on its morphological characteristics to accommodate the single species C. cyanobactericola, which grows on Hypotrachyma in Ecuador. This genus is distinguished by its subcylindrical ascomata with a widened ostiole formed by apex breakdown, and a multi-layered perithecial wall. The asci are cylindrical, unitunicate, and 8-spored, exhibiting a KI+ blue reaction in the wall. The ascospores are uniseriate, hyaline to yellowish, subspherical to polygonal, and verruculose. Etayo (2017) placed Cylindronectria within Hypocreales. However, no sequence data is available, and its phylogenetic status remains unconfirmed, pending further studies.

Type species: Cylindronectria cyanobacteriicola Etayo, on Hypotrachyma (Etayo 2017).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Cylindronectria.
