Classification: NectriaceaeHypocrealesHypocreomycetidaeSordariomycetesPezizomycotinaAscomycota, Fungi.

Pathogenic, on plant parts including fruits and roots, sometimes on insect pupae, parasitic on algae. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Conidiophores initially as lateral phialides on somatic hyphae, sometimes verticillate, hyaline. Conidiogenus cells monophialidic, elongate doliiform to reniform to obpyriform, with the terminal part frequently having a swollen tip, with a minute periclinal thickening, collarette inconspicuous. Conidia cylindrical, rounded at both ends, straight, 0–3-septate, abscission scars visible (adapted from Lombard et al. 2015).

Known distribution: Canada, China, France (Lombard et al. 2014), UK (Petch 1944), Spain (Agustí-Brisach et al. 2016).

Notes: In the phylogenetic analysis by Lombard et al. (2015) Cylindrodendrum showed phylogenetic affinities to Dactylonectria, but in our study it formed a monophyletic clade sister to Dactylonectria and Ilyonectria (Perera RH et al. 2023).

Type species: Cylindrodendrum album Bonord., Handb. Allgem. mykol. (Stuttgart): 48 (1851).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Cylindrodendrum.
