Classification: Nectriaceae, Hypocreales, Hypocreomycetidae, Sordariomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi.
On decaying angiospermous leaves and seeds, plant pathogenic. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Conidiomata hyphomycetous, sporodochial or synnematal, with conidiophores and sterile stipe extensions. Conidiophores numerous, penicillate; main axis thick-walled, smooth to finely verruculose, septate, medium to light brown, arising from a stroma of brown, thick-walled chlamydospores. Conidiophore branches sub-cylindrical, straight to slightly curved, hyaline, smooth-walled. Sterile stipe extensions apically 1(–2) septate, with one basal septum, nonvesiculate; apical cell strongly curved, tapering toward a bluntly rounded acute apex, light brown, thick-walled, verruculose. Conidiogenous cells phialidic, doliiform to reniform or sub-cylindrical, periclinal thickening minute, with an inconspicuous flared collarette, hyaline, smooth-walled. Conidia cylindrical, 1-septate, abscission scar not visible, occur in hyaline slimy heads. Chlamydospores intercalary, globose to elongate ellipsoidal, usually aggregating to form microsclerotia (adapted from Decock and Crous 1998).
Known distribution. French Guiana (Decock and Crous 1998), China (Lian-chai et al. 2022)
Notes: The generic name Curvicladium Decock and Crous was invalidly published by Decock and Crous (1998), as it was already taken by a moss genus Curvicladium Enroth (1993). Hence, Crous et al. (2006) proposed Curvicladiella nom. nov. for Curvicladium.
