Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.

Coniambigua was introduced by Etayo et al. (1995) to describe the conidial species C. phaeographidis, which is found on Phaeographis lyellii. This genus is characterized by dark-colored, pycnidial conidiomata with irregular openings and hyaline walls. The holoblastic, terminal conidiogenous cells are integrated and hyaline. The conidia are dark brown, acrogenous, simple, and ornamented, with shapes ranging from rounded to cylindrical or polyhedral (Etayo et al. 1995). Diederich et al. (2024) introduced two new species and transferred one species from Sclerococcum aptrootii. Due to the lack of sequence data, the phylogenetic status of this genus remains uncertain and requires further investigation in the future.

Type species: Coniambigua phaeographidis Etayo & Diederich.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Coniambigua.
