Clypeosphaeria is characterized by immersed to erumpent, dark pigmented ascomata, cylindrical to broadly cylindrical asci, with J-, or J+, apical ring and ellipsoidal to fusiform, unicellular to septate, smooth-walled to ornamented or striate, hyaline to dark brown ascospores, sometimes with sheaths or appendages (Saccardo 1883cKang et al. 1999c). In this entry we illustrate Clypeosphaeria mamillana.

Type species: Clypeosphaeria mamillana (Fr.) Lambotte.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Clypeosphaeria.
