Index Fungorum, Faceoffungi, MycoBank, GenBank, Fig 1.

Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.

Choreospora was introduced by Constantinescu et al. (1987) to describe the single hyphomycete, C. tibellii, which was found on a sterile foliicolous lichen thallus of Echinoplaca sp. The genus is characterized by sporodochial conidiomata with a reduced, black, round to irregular-shaped stroma. The phialides, which function as conidiogenous cells, are brown, cylindrical, and annellidic. The conidia are pale olivaceous, tetraradiate, non-septate, and feature whip-like extensions on their arms (Constantinescu et al. 1987). Due to the lack of molecular data, the phylogenetic status of Choreospora remains uncertain and requires further investigation in the future.

Type species: Choreospora tibellii Constant. & R. Sant.

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Choreospora.
