Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.

Cecidiomyces was introduced by Zhurbenko et al. (2012b) to accommodate its single species, C. santessonii, which was discovered on Stereocaulon argus. This genus is characterized by its lichenicolous habit, gall formation, and caespitose to sporodochial colony structure. The conidiophores are semi-macronematous, monoblastic, and determinate, being reduced to conidiogenous cells. The conidia are solitary, subglobose to obovoid or obpyriform, with a broadly rounded apex, and are 0–1-septate and pigmented. The phylogenetic placement of Cecidiomyces remains unresolved due to the lack of molecular data (Zhurbenko et al. 2012b).

Type species: Cecidiomyces santessonii U. Braun & Zhurb., on Stereocaulon argus (Zhurbenko et al. 2012b).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Cecidiomyces.
