Notes: Arnaud (1952) introduced a new genus Brachyhelicoon to accommodate B. xylogenum as the type species, which was found on branch litter of rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) in Thailand based on its morphological characteristics. Brachyhelicoon xylogenum is characterized by erect, hyaline, simple, aseptate, shorter, globose or oblong conidiophores, and hyaline, aseptate, spiral conidia (Arnaud 1952; Goos 1987). It should be noted that Arnaud did not provide a Latin diagnosis for B. xylogenum according to their description, and many subsequent authors did not offer further descriptions or comments on this species (Moore 1955; Goos 1987).
Type species: Brachyhelicoon xylogenum G. Arnaud, Bulletin de la Société Mycologique de France 68: 209 (1952).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Brachyhelicoon.
