The order Boliniales, which was introduced by Cannon (Kirk et al. 2001), comprises saprobes within the subclass Sordariomycetidae. Boliniales is a monotypic order which includes a single family Boliniaceae, with nine genera (Maharachchikumbura et al. 20152016Wijayawardene et al. 2017a2018).

Type family: Boliniaceae Rick, Brotéria, sér. bot. 25(2-3): 65 (1931).
