Atractosporales was introduced to accomodate three families, i.e. Atractosporaceae, Conlariaceae and Pseudoproboscisporaceae, based on morphology and multigene analyses (Zhang et al. 2017). Atractosporaceae and Pseudoproboscisporaceae are comparable as ascomata in both families are often parallel or oblique to the host substrate, while the ascomata in Conlariaceae have an upright neck (Ferrer et al. 2012, Liu et al. 2012, Réblová et al. 2016, Zhang et al. 2017). With more samples populated in the phylogenetic analyses, three families did not form a monophyletic clade and had relationships with other families, Cancellidiaceae and Junewangiaceae (Luo et al. 2019, Hyde et al. 2020). Luo et al. (2019) therefore excluded Conlariaceae and Pseudoproboscisporaceae to the order and referred them in Diaporthomycetidae families incertae sedis. Hyde et al. (2021) established a new order Conlariales to accommodate Conlariaceae based on a divergence time study, and retain Pseudoproboscisporaceae in Diaporthomycetidae families incertae sedis. Our phylogenetic analysis show that Conlariales clusters distantly from Atractosporaceae and Pseudoproboscisporaceae, and has relationship with Xenospadicoidales, while Pseudoproboscisporaceae clusters with Junewangiaceae.
Type family – Atractosporaceae H. Zhang, K.D. Hyde & Maharachch.
