Classification: Ascomycota genera incertae sedis, Fungi.
The hyphomycetous genus Arborillus was introduced by Muntañola-Cvetković et al. (1998) to accommodate the type species A. llimonae, discovered on the lichen Diploschistes diacapsis. This genus is characterized by brown, macronematous, erect synnemata with expanded, capitate apices. The conidiogenous cells are terminally integrated, monophialidic, penicillate, and verrucose. The conidia are dry, non-septate, verrucose, and catenate, with truncate poles resembling a broad pore. In the absence of molecular data, the phylogenetic position of Arborillus remains unresolved (Muntañola-Cvetković et al. 1998).
Type species: Arborillus llimonae Munt.-Cvetk. & Gómez-Bolea, on Diploschistes diacapsis (Muntañola-Cvetković et al. 1998).
Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Arborillus.
