Amylocorticiaceae was first described to accommodate Amylocorticium, but later several genera were placed in the family based on molecular phylogeny (Larsson 2007). At present, Amylocorticiaceae is the only family of the Amylocorticiales, and the delimitation of it is still not clear (Larsson 2007; Binder et al. 2010).

Type genus: Amylocorticium Pouzar, Česká Mykol. 13(1): 11 (1959).
