Albertiniella was introduced by Kirschstein (1936) to accommodate a fungus developing ascomata on rotting Polyporus applanatus. It is characterized by globose, black, glabrous, carbonaceous cleistothecium, subglobose to globose asci and ovate to globose, aseptate, hyaline to yellowish ascospores.

Type species: Albertiniella reticulata Kirschst., Annls mycol. 34(3): 183 (1936).
