Classification: Ostropales genera incertae sedis, Ostropomycetidae, Lecanoromycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi

Aabaarnia was introduced by Diederich (2014) to classify a lichenicolous, gall-inducing ascomycete found on Siphula decumbens in Australia and New Zealand. This genus is characterized by pale, immersed, cleistohymenial ascomata; an ascomatal wall lacking crystals; the absence of periphysoids; a hymenium with a KI+ blue reaction; subcylindrical asci containing 4–6 spores and featuring a prominent apical cap; and oval to short-cylindrical, 3-septate ascospores (Diederich 2014). This genus is monotypic, and no sequence data is available. Aabaarnia has been provisionally placed within Ostropales as genera incertae sedis until molecular data become available.

Type species: Aabaarnia siphulicola Diederich, on Siphula decumbens (Diederich 2014).

Other accepted species: Species Fungorum – search Aabaarnia.
